IN-USE VEHICLE EMISSIONS EVALUATION

Vehicle manufacturers - as part of the government's ongoing commitment to the environment, continuing efforts to improve air quality, and emissions performance of the in-use fleet - must comply with certain EPA and California Air Resources Board requirements.

The program seeks to collect certain on-board diagnostics data and emissions data from specific models to determine how well the emissions components are performing in real-world driving. Testing can be completed within a week but in certain cases two weeks may be required.

Procured vehicles undergo a safety and procurement inspection to ensure that they meet all your requirements for data acquisition. Vehicle owners are also surveyed for information on their personal driving habits, surveys which can be tailored to meet your specific needs.

CAFLOR adheres to the minimum EPA guidelines for all vehicle procurements, assuring that vehicles appropriately represent:
  • low mileage: 10,000 miles and approximately 1 year of operation
  • high mileage*: 50,000+ miles and approximately 5 years of operation

    * Of the high-mileage vehicles, at least one high-mileage vehicle must be at 75% (75,000 miles) of full useful life in order to meet the EPA's CARB requirements
