In addition to mileage accumulation done under controlled laboratory settings, CAFLOR offers real-world vehicle fleet aging and durability analysis. Testing is available in Michigan, Denver, CO, Los Angeles, CA, Canada, and Europe.
Testing can be done for benchmarking whole-vehicle performance or specified parameters, such as brakes spark plugs, oil consumption, oxygen sensors, catalysts and catalyst poisoning, sulfur, H2S odor.
For example, in Michigan CAFLOR tested a 20-vehicle ULEV Emissions Fleet's durability up to 100,000 miles. The testing was done on normal, public roads, 50% city and 50% highway driving, with data acquired at 10 Hertz across the following parameters:
- Emissions - periodically checked tailpipe, engine out, after catalysts
- Oxygen Sensor - before and after catalysts.
- Temperature profile: manifold, mid-bed and after catalysts.
- Oil Consumption: gravimetric studies at factory-recommended intervals
- OBD-II data acquisition
- Flight recorders
CAFLOR has also tested Ford's 4.6L V8 for cold weather durability, emissions, OBD-II studies, oil consumption, and catalyst durability (specifically phosphorus poisoning).
CAFLOR also provides cold chamber testing to its clients.
